Washington (Gallant Gold Media Hill Report) – Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), House Democratic Caucus Chair, announced today at a press conference that Democrats would be delivering on their promise made during the “reckless” shutdown: to have a productive bipartisan conversation about effective border solutions once the government reopened.
“The Agreement which has been reached by Conference Committee represents 21st Century Border Security which will improve the safety and well-being of the situation along the border, including those seeking asylum in the United States of America.”
Jeffries cited several specific Democratic priorities that were accomplished through the bipartisan Border Security agreement:
- Investment in Infrastructure
- Investment in Technology
- Investment in additional Personnel where needed
Strong emphasis was placed at the start of the press conference that it’s essential in divided government that both sides come together – “Democrats and Republicans, the left and the right, progressives and conservatives” – and find common ground in the best interests of the American people.
