With each gold medal placed on a vegan athlete’s shoulders, more and more people are seeing the truth about plant-based diets. By avoiding animal products, people can take control of many of the problems facing the world today. A vegan diet saves the lives of countless animals, protects the environment, and promotes overall health. This simple dietary and lifestyle change can lower your chances of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. It can also drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as water and land usage. A 2016 study released by the University of Oxford found that the planet’s food-related emissions would drop by 70 percent if the world were to go vegan.
