School Food Waste Is a Big Problem, Let’s Fix It

Food waste in schools is epidemic. Elementary schools in particular have become food waste overachievers. From stuffed lunch bags and trays — which usually include fresh fruit, packaged applesauce, trail mix and similar snacks that health-conscious parents and school administrators endorse but can’t control — the daily mountain of nourishing food landing in school waste bins, headed for landfills, has reached crisis level.

What Everyone Ought to Know about DiCaprio, Kerry and the Global Methane Pledge

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas that is more than 80 times as strong as carbon dioxide over a 20 year period. According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), methane accounts for nearly 30 percent of the rise in the average global temperature since the industrial age began in 1760.
